My mother has always had a deep, emotional connection to vintage windows and rustic stone walls—for her, a window is a portal to warmth, memory, and nostalgia. In this piece, she was inspired by the quiet romance of old European alleyways, where time seems to stand still. She loves how a simple window, illuminated by the gentle glow of a streetlamp and surrounded by blossoming flowers, can instantly make a place feel like home.
To evoke that authentic vintage feel, my mother crafted a heavily textured, distressed plaster wall background in muted gray tones, beautifully contrasted with the warm amber light of the lantern. She chose a striking deep blue for the window panes, creating a vibrant focal point that balances the soft, romantic blush of the burgundy roses cascading below.
